Damian Noszkowicz, a poet in image and worD
When Damian came to Paris from Poland at 22 in 2014, without any knowledge of French and having grown up in a village far removed from the cultural buzz of a metropolis, he soon sought to find his way and define his identity as an artist.
Since he had long practised photography as an amateur in his country, he started working as a freelance photographer, until his talent and perseverance won him publications in various media (Vogue Hommes, Vanity Fair, GQ, Fantastic Man…) and a participation in Diane Venet’s exhibition of artists’ jewels at the Paris Museum of Decorative Arts and the accompanying book published by Flammarion.
In 2020 when the pandemic struck and he wasn’t able to work, he used his free time to go through his personal archive, which included not only a wealth of photographs but also the poems that he had been writing since he was 13, first in Polish and in English after 2011, and he discovered between his poetry and photos a common thread that had hitherto escaped him.
And this is how GOSSAMER was born, a book assembling 150 photos and 43 poems that illustrate his world of the past seven years and reflect his emotions triggered by the beauty of the male body, the austere landscapes of Iceland, the images of his home country that haunted his youth, some specific moments of his new life in Paris or scenes of nature that remain printed on his retina.
Luck hAD it that his first personal exhibition TOOK PLACE in an iconic venue, the former loft and terrace of internationally renowned interior designer Andrée Putman, in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés FROM 10 to 24 MARCH. prior to the opening he received the prix Vendôme circle for his work in photography.
In JUNE 2022 his first monograph was shortlisted for the Arles 2022 Book Award in the Photo-Text category.
In July Damian Presented a new series of work on Flowers and petals at the group show BLOSSOM at Gallery Rabouan Moussion in Paris (from 2 to 30 july) as well as at The Group show Grand Opening at Gallery Rabouan Moussion at La baule From 16 July to mid-September.

Arrivé à Paris de Pologne à 22 ans en 2014, sans aucune connaissance du français et ayant grandi dans un village bien éloigné de l’effervescence culturelle d’une métropole, Damian a très tôt cherché à trouver sa voie et à définir son identité d’artiste.
Ayant depuis longtemps, dans son pays, pratiqué la photographie en amateur, il a commencé à travailler comme photographe en freelance. Son talent et sa persévérance lui ont bientôt valu des publications dans divers supports (Vogue Hommes, Vanity Fair, GQ, Fantastic Man…) ainsi que la participation à l’exposition de Diane Venet au MAD à Paris et au livre qui l’a accompagnée, paru chez Flammarion.
En 2020, quand il s’est trouvé sans travail du fait de la pandémie, il a profité du temps ainsi libéré pour parcourir ses archives personnelles, qui comportaient non seulement une profusion de photographies, mais aussi les poèmes qu’il avait écrits depuis l’âge de 13 ans, en polonais d’abord puis en anglais à partir de 2011, et a découvert entre ses poésies et ses photos un fil conducteur qui lui avait jusqu’alors échappé.
C’est ainsi qu’est né GOSSAMER, un livre qui rassemble 150 photos et 43 poèmes qui témoignent de son parcours depuis sept ans et expriment l’émotion que lui inspirent notamment la beauté du corps masculin, l’austérité des paysages d’Islande, les images de Pologne qui ont hanté son enfance, des moments particuliers de sa nouvelle vie à Paris, ou des scènes de nature qui restent imprimées sur sa rétine.
La chance a voulu que sa première exposition personnelle ait été hébergée dans un lieu iconique, l’ancien loft d’Andrée Putman et sa terrasse, au cœur de Saint-Germain-des-Prés du 10 au 24 mars 2022. à la veille de l’oiverture de son exposition il reçut le Prix Vendôme Circle pour son travail photographique.
en juin 2022 son livre gossamer a é'té nominé pour le prix du livre 2022 des rencontres d’arles dans la catégorie photo-texte.
En juillet Damian a présenté sa nouvelle serie sur les fleurs et les petales à l’exposition collective Blossom à la galerie rabouan moussion à Paris (du 2 au 30 juillet) ansi qu’à l’exposition collective Grand Opening à la galerie rabouan moussion à la baule du 16 juillet jusqu’à mi-septembre.
